Couples who book with Crystal Broussard Photography have the option of choosing a second shooter for an additional fee. The intention of this blog post is to introduce couples to the primary second shooter I will be using on weddings that include this option. {Provided she’s not booked on her own & if she is… well, I just may cry. ;) }
Before you meet her and see the work she has done for me, I’d first like to give insight to my own perception of working with Jennifer and why I feel you should include the second shooter option to your wedding collections.

I’m indecisive. It’s such a prominent characteristic trait in me that I should likely legally change my name to: Crystal Indecisive Broussard. Or perhaps, it’s just an over abundance of meticulousness? Either way, after working with Jennifer, there was no reason for indecisiveness. In fact, it was pretty clear to me that she most suited my needs {and my couple’s needs} in a second shooter for my weddings.
Jennifer is what I like to call a “technical” photographer – she knows the proper names of all the buttons on her camera, what they do, what this does and that does, how this works, what this is called – you get the drift. I am the opposite of that. I name the buttons whatever they do for me, I figure out how things work by pressing them and seeing what happens. For the record, I know what they do… I don’t just experiment and hope for the best on every session, but as far as the technical terms – I just don’t know what everything is called, never assumed I needed to… but I have learned from Jennifer many things I did not actually know. Furthermore, I feel like I have helped her just go with it on weddings and experiment a little. This kind of dynamic, I feel, makes the perfect duo.
But most importantly, regardless of how well of a photographer I feel that she is and how good the images I feel she contributes are, I needed someone who worked well with my personality. Someone who didn’t step on my toes, get in the way, who understood proper etiquette in second shooting, who didn’t require too much direction and who had a good respectable personality. Now, I have worked with other photographers who met these requirements – I just didn’t feel like their images matched my style as much as Jennifer’s did. So, it really is the whole package.
{ & if you know me, you first know I’d never disrespect anyone who didn’t disrespect me first AND I’m incredibly picky. So if I didn’t choose another photographer to work with in the end, it was most definitely not personal! }
So really, the only downfall is that she shoots Canon. ;) Haha. {Kidding, kidding!} :P
Kidding & babbling aside, I want to introduce you to Jennifer and encourage you that if you’re booking a wedding – you include the option for a second shooter. So let’s get on with it then.
Meet Jennifer Wanicki!

Q: Tell us a little about yourself! {Who are you? Where do you hail from? Etc.}
A: I'm a lifelong resident of the Quad Cities and I can't imagine a better place to call home or raise a family. I'm married and have two beautiful daughters who are both in high school. (<---seriously, where did the time go?)
Q: What made you decide to become a photographer?
A: I think I was born a photographer. I don't remember a time when I didn't have some sort of camera in my hand. It's just a part of me. I've had every sort of camera you can imagine from film to the first simple digital cameras. I started to get serious about the technical side of digital photography in 2008. From there I learned one skill at a time, reading books on my camera and taking lots of notes. Eventually it all started to come together and friends started asking me to take their family photos. It was so much fun to let my creative side shine. It's brought so much joy to my life. That joy shines through in the photographs I take of the families I'm blessed to photograph.
Q: Describe your experience as a second shooter :
A: There is nothing that I love more than 2nd shooting a wedding! I love love love it! My experience has been wonderful working with Crystal, she's so organized and has already met with the couple to organize details, shot list and timelines. I arrive well prepared to come in and assist her with the main shots as well as capture the intimate and candid moments that the couple desires in the most efficient and organized way. While Crystal is posing a group I am the extra set of eyes for hands, hair, distractions, and also capture the moments between the official shots. The candid moments between friends. Those moments are my personal favorites, so I feel that this job is perfect for me. I enjoy photographing the connections between people.

{{And if you meant my experience level: That would be just three weddings so far.}}
Q: How do you feel about weddings now that you have been a second shooter?
A: Funny question! I never thought I would love photographing weddings, but since 2nd shooting a few, it's my FAVORITE thing!! (Crystal warned me that would happen! lol)

There is nothing better than the excitement, the love, and the joy of the first kiss, the announcement, the first dance. I can't get enough now!
Q: What made you decide to take Crystal Broussard Photography’s offer as a second shooter on selected weddings?
A: Honestly, I'm honored that she chose me as her 2nd shooter! I took the offer for a few reasons. Because I truly enjoy working with Crystal. Because I fell in love with her work the first time I saw it. Because when I reached out to her as a new photographer in the area, she took the time to write back and encouraged and supported me. To be able to support her during a wedding day and watch her creative process is nothing short of amazing. I know her standards are nothing less than perfection, which is what clients deserve. I respect that immensely.
Q: Anything else you’d like to add?
A: Yes, thank you Crystal for the interview. It was fun! And to those reading, hopefully I'll be seeing you soon at your wedding! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding, and for choosing Crystal Broussard Photography to capture your special day! You will be so happy you did.
