VanOort Family

VanOort Family

When I think of them, the first word that pops in to my head is: gratuitous. This year I have really begun a lot of self reflecting and one of the things I have learned is that you must give good to receive good. Although I used to think I understood what this meant I only within the last year have really begun attempting to apply it and really delve in to it's meaning. Every time that I have worked with Jen she has responding with a sincere abundance of gratitude. She seems to be one of those people who does not take anything for granted.

I find her responses to the photographs and her messages to me are always grateful and kind - and that means more to a photographer than many know. I think because she is a fellow artist, she gets that... we essentially as artists are putting ourselves out there for many people to critique and it can be a bit jarring sometimes.

To speak candidly a moment, some of the portraits from her family's session are among my favorite portraits to have shot to date. The boys and those gosh darn adorable freckles, Miss Effie's always providing a beautiful location and that they dealt with my incessant 'I'm not fond of his lighting, let's move.' thing I had going on that day {I was exceptionally picky, I'm picky anyway... but .. I was REALLY picky that day - haha}.

It was a pleasure. Thank you for choosing me to take your portraits.
