Okay, okay … I’m the worst at talking about myself in the third person, so let’s end that. I suppose you’d like to know more about me? Well, here’s some things I can tell you. I don’t have any fancy photography awards to gloat about. Actually, I don’t think I have a first place prize in anything… oh except that one time I won young authors & … a tractor pull contest at the 4H Fair, which is kind of funny considering I’m the farthest thing away from ever being considered a farm girl.
But I can write & I was the only girl competing in that competition. So guess who owned those farm boys? This girl did!
... Oh and I also got the award for "Biggest Ham" in cheerleading. But, we don't talk about that. It's the Lord Voldermort (or Fight Club, whatever your genre of "things we don't talk about'' preference is) of awards. Because some of us didn't realize that Biggest Ham meant that you were funny and not that you were being compared to a farm animal... ahem.
ANYWAY, That’s not to say that I wouldn’t be honored, elated, and certainly over the moon were I ever to receive a prestigious award for my photography, it just has happened….. yet.
But here’s what has happened. In five short years I have gone from the girl who bought a “nice” camera to take better pictures of her then two year old son to photographing weddings nearly every weekend during wedding season. Although I haven’t won anything I have been lucky enough to have been published in two local newspapers/magazines, which is in my opinion an absolute blessing. & we just booked our 60th wedding!
I know this is getting a little long-winded, bear with me … that’s just how I am. I cannot have an about me without mentioning that I am first and foremost a mother. My children, Gavin & Chloe, are the highlights of my life. They have made me a more patient human being and more importantly a better person in general. In short (oh who’s kidding.. in long), I cannot imagine where I would be right now without having had them in my life. Children provide the most amazing perspective of the world around us & having two of them to provide me perspective with every day is something I am definitely grateful for.
