My venture in to boudoir.

I have to admit, I fell in to the stigma surrounding boudoir sessions and for a very long time thought it would be an option that I'd not offer as a photographer. Since beginning this journey, I've come to realize that the stigma surrounding it is based on iconic men's magazines and failure to keep an open mind.....  and is not at all what boudoir is really about.

Boudoir is intended to be intimate, yes... but classy, always. It's about celebrating womanhood and the empowerment of being comfortable in your own skin. Every woman I have photographed has inspired me in so many ways. I commend their capability to be daring and ultimately vulnerable when placing themselves in the hands of someone who offers these sessions.

I had considered making a separate page for boudoir, but then I realized that this type of photography is equally as beautiful as any other form of photography. And my page represents my work as well as what I offer, so I chose to keep the two together because of this. I don't personally feel the nature of my boudoir sessions is offensive or inappropriate. I take pride in keeping the traditional aspect of boudoir alive.

Since beginning boudoir, I made it a goal to someday be just as comfortable as these women and to participate in an event myself. I made lifestyle changes that I am incredibly proud of. I cut out fast food from my diet, sugary drinks, and began working out every day. I fully feel that had I not went down this road I wouldn't have had the inspiration and motivation that I needed within my own life to begin making positive changes.

If you have a differing opinion, I urge you to see the beauty in boudoir. The empowerment, confidence, and inspiration to feel beautiful in our own skin.

Here are some photos from my boudoir sessions.

  2. “It's about celebrating womanhood and the empowerment of being comfortable in your own skin.” – That’s exactly the true meaning of boudoir photography for me. Boudoir photography is taking a tasteful photo of yourself, with the hint of sexiness in a classy and elegant way. It’s being comfortable with your body and showing the deeper side of you. Your photographs here are incredibly alluring, by the way. =) #Barrie Baird
